About Chris Froines
I am a trial lawyer with more than two decades of experience representing real people in serious civil disputes. I founded Froines Law Office with a simple goal: provide high-level trial advocacy without the impersonality and bureaucracy of a large firm.
When you hire my office, you don’t get passed from associate to associate or routed through layers of staff. You get me. My clients have my cell phone number, and when something matters, they can reach me directly. That level of access and accountability is intentional—and it’s one of the reasons I keep my practice small.
A Trial Lawyer First
For over 22 years, I have litigated cases in state and federal courts, including appearances before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Montana Supreme Court. My practice has included personal injury, wrongful death, insurance disputes, landlord-tenant law, contract disputes, probate and estate litigation, and complex civil matters that require careful strategy and persistence.
I prepare cases as if they will be tried. That approach consistently produces results—both in the courtroom and at the negotiating table.
Proven Results
Over the course of my career, I have recovered millions of dollars for my clients, including:
- $2.3 million in a landlord-tenant class action—the largest landlord-tenant recovery in Montana history
- $2.2 million in a recent auto-accident / wrongful-death case
- Numerous six- and seven-figure recoveries in personal-injury and civil-liability cases
These outcomes reflect not only the seriousness of the injuries involved, but a willingness to do the hard work required to hold defendants and insurers accountable.
Experience That Extends Beyond the Courtroom
Before practicing law, I owned and operated a construction business, served as a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed boat captain in Alaska, and later held leadership roles with Missoula County Search and Rescue. Those experiences shaped how I approach cases today—with practical judgment, decisiveness under pressure, and a strong sense of responsibility for the people who rely on me.
I also currently provide pro bono and reduced-fee legal services to tenants facing eviction, because access to justice should not depend on resources alone.
Personalized Representation Matters
I intentionally limit the number of cases I take. That allows me to fully understand my clients’ lives, their losses, and what is at stake—not just legally, but personally. Whether I am handling a catastrophic injury, a wrongful-death claim, or a complex civil dispute, my clients know their case matters and that it is being handled with care, preparation, and resolve.
If you are looking for a lawyer who will know your name, answer your call, and prepare your case as if it truly matters—because it does—I would be honored to talk with you.
